A historic townhouse renovation that preserves original architectural details while introducing contemporary elements.

Greenwich Village Townhouse

About This Project

This historic Greenwich Village townhouse underwent a comprehensive renovation that preserved and restored its architectural heritage while creating a comfortable, contemporary home for a young family. The project involved close collaboration with preservation architects to ensure that the building's historic character was maintained while updating systems and spaces for modern living.

Original details, including ornate plasterwork, marble fireplaces, and herringbone floors, were carefully restored. New interventions, such as the expanded kitchen and family room at the garden level, were designed to complement the historic elements while meeting the family's needs for casual, connected living spaces.

The interior design balances respect for the townhouse's history with the clients' contemporary aesthetic. Furnishings include a mix of custom pieces, contemporary designs, and antiques that create a layered, collected feel throughout the home.
