Upper East Side Apartment
Residential | New York, NY | 2019
A classic pre-war apartment updated with a fresh, contemporary aesthetic while respecting the original architecture.
About This Project
This Upper East Side apartment renovation balanced respect for the building's pre-war architecture with the clients' desire for a fresh, contemporary aesthetic. The design approach focused on preserving and highlighting original details while updating the space for modern living.
The apartment's layout was reconfigured to create a better flow between rooms while maintaining the formal separation of spaces typical of pre-war buildings. The kitchen and bathrooms were completely renovated with contemporary fixtures and finishes that complement the apartment's traditional architecture.
The color palette is soft and sophisticated, creating a serene backdrop for the clients' collection of contemporary art and photography. Furnishings include a mix of custom pieces, contemporary designs, and carefully selected antiques that create a layered, collected feel throughout the home.
